NOL Conference Tournament 3/3/15, Willard Boys and Girls Win!
Both the boys and girls events went down to the last game of bakers in very exciting finishes. This was a very low scoring event bowled on tough lane condition that made strikes hard to get and spares a premium. Bowled on the Kegel “Abby Road” lane pattern.

2013-14 Season

Sarah does her best at State Championship
Sarah Napier (Willard) bowled very well, much better than her score would indicate. What appeared to be quality shots worthy of striking resulted in 9 and 8 counts. Normal pin carry for her would have resulted in no less than a 100 pin increase in score. In bowling sometimes luck in on your side and other times it isn't. This was a case of the latter.
It is still a major accomplishment coming in 52nd place out of all the girls who bowl in Ohio. Sarah did a great job all season along.

Girls Sectional Tournament Results

The Willard Varsity Girls Bowling Team just missed advancing to Districts when they fell just 82 pins short over 3 regular and 6 baker games at Sectionals held in Port Clinton’s Star Lanes at the Harbor 2/15/14.
The good news is that Senior Sarah Napier (480) and Junior Kaitlyn Craft (474) had the 3rd and 4th highest 3 game series of the event for ladies who didn’t advance. They will advance as individuals to Districts 2/22/14 at Westgate Lanes in Lima.
Napier and Craft was the only non-freshmen on the Lady Flashes to see action at Sectionals. “While it was disappointing not advancing to Districts as a team we have a bright future ahead of us in coming years. It’s nice that the upperclassmen advanced and they should do well in Lima next week” stated Head Coach Lewis Sims.
The Boys Varsity team also advanced to Lima. The top 3 boys teams and 3 individuals from districts will advance to State Tournament to be held at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl the following week while the top 3 girls teams and top 3 individuals will advance in the ladies division.

Sarah Napier 1st Team All-Conference - 172 Average
Kaitlyn Craft 1st Team All-Conference - 160 Average
2012 Willard Flashes Bowling Team

We had a great season for both teams advancing to Districts. If we finished in the top 2 and we would have made it to the OHSAA State Championship. I am very proud of both teams. We had the Girls win at Sectionals, 2 Girls 1st Team All-Conference, 2 Girls and 1 Boy 2ndTeam All-Conference, the girls had a Perfect 20-0 in matches while the Boys came back from a 5-10 record to finish with a 10-10 record.
We had 27 students on the bowling team this year, the largest ever amount we have rostered. Coach Gullett and Kenestrick did a great job improving all of their skill sets. With us having 5 girls and 3 boys graduating this year and 2 others moving out of town this would be a concern for most teams but with the effort these 2 coaches put in this year I am looking forward to next season being a good one, not a just a rebuilding year. While I doubt we can or ever will obtain another 20-0 record for the girls in my lifetime (if ever) we could post an improved season next year for the boys and another fine season for the girls. ___ Coach Sims
Willard Lady Flashes 20-0 (14-0)
Willard Flashes vs. Woodmore Wildcats 1/29/13 at Dynasty Lanes
Willard wins now 9-10 (5-9 in Conference)
This was a big upset in our favor. Woodmore has an excellent team.

2011-12 Flashes and Lady Flashes

OHSAA Northwest District Bowling Championships
After 2 games of regular bowling the Lady Flashes looked like they might be making a run for a State berth being just 42 pins out of 2nd place. During game 3 St. Mary poured it on putting a distance of 242 pins between them and the still in forth place Willard squad but the girls couldn't keep up in Baker games and finished in 9th. Still a strong showing for the girls and something that they should be very proud of.
